How should I prepare my LEGO? 

The best way to get ready for a pickup is to place your donation in standard 13-gallon kitchen garbage bags. They fit better into our vehicle than cardboard boxes, etc. 

• No sorting or cleaning is necessary 

• No need to sift through and pick out non-LEGO 

Do you need to know the weight of our donation prior to pickup? 

If you know the weight, we’ll write it into our records, but it’s not necessary. 

Do you need a photo of our donation prior to pickup? 

It always helps to know what the dimensions of the donation we’ll be picking up, but photos aren’t really necessary. Feel free to send one to 331-305-1448. 

Do I need to break down sets that are built? 

Not at all. We appreciate it if you do, but it’s not necessary. 

Do you take instructions and/or boxes? 

Yes, we happily take any/all instruction booklets and LEGO boxes. If they’re in rough shape – meaning ripped up, soiled, or noticeably damaged – please add them to your recycling.

What time of day does the pickup happen?

We run pickups on most Saturdays between 10-4pm. If you need to schedule a specific time for any reason, please let us know. Also, if you need an advance notice before we arrive, we’ll do our best to accommodate. We try to quote a specific two-hour window when we believe we'll be arriving. 

Do I need to be present for the pickup? 

Not at all, although we would love to meet you in person! Most of our donors leave everything on the front porch.

I live in a multi-unit building with a shared/secure entry – Can I still donate? 

Sure thing! Just let us know how you’d prefer to connect. If you have entry codes or special instructions for your Doorman, please let us know in advance.   

Will you take Bins, Organizers (with or without drawers)?, and other storage items? 

Absolutely! We can make use of almost everything we pick up, and we responsibly recycle anything that we can’t use. Multi-drawer plastic organizers are extremely helpful to us, so don’t be shy about asking.  

Can I request to keep the bins that my LEGO are in? 

Absolutely! Just let us know before donation day that’s what you’d like to do. We’ll transfer the contents to our bins and leave yours in a secure place on or new your porch. 

Does PeaceBrix provide tax acknowledgement letters for my donation? 

Yes. As a 501(c)(3) children’s charity, your donation is considered “in-kind” and is tax deductible. We provide a tax acknowledgement letter usually within a week of the donation pickup date. We do need your full name, address, and email address to get the letter to you. 

If I’m moving soon, or Saturday is not convenient, can I request a specific day and time? 

Usually, yes. With enough advance notice, we can schedule a special trip. 

How does PeaceBrix define its pickup zone? 

Our pickup zone is any Illinois address within a 75-mile radius of Michigan/Wacker in downtown Chicago. If you’re outside that area or in NW Indiana or Wisconsin and would like to ask about arranging a donation, please email us or text/call 331-305-1448.

What happens to my LEGO donation after you pick it up? 

​

The vast majority of the LEGO we receive will be cleansed, sorted, and converted into STEM learning kits for kids. Other LEGO parts and pieces may be donated to other charities, and some may be sold in bulk to fund our operations.
